THE ALPINE PALAFITTE SITES: PATRIMONY OF HUMANITY 2011

In the region of Lake Garda, there are the largest concentrations of palafitte sites, more than 30 spread both on the lakeside and the inframorenic lakes. The palafitte sites are one of the best sources of information for the prehistory. Thanks to the notable quantity and the importance of the scientific results, the palafitte have given a precise and detailed insight into one of the first agricultural communities in Europe, in particular in their daily life, their agricultural practices, their rearing of domestic animals and their technological innovations. There dating to over 4000 years ago allows us to understand some of the significant changes in the story of humanity between the Neolithic and the Bronze Ages. Three lessons of an hour and a half with successive visits to museums and palafitte sites. This project is suitable for students of primary schools and the first year of the secondary school.
